Chartres Labyrinth Shell Token

A fine pewter pocket token featuring the 11-circuit Chartres Labyrinth melded onto a symbolic pilgrim’s shell. This tactile tool is designed for those on a spiritual quest, serving as a portable anchor for moving meditation and centering.

The labyrinth is an ancient symbol of the spiritual journey, and this specific 11-circuit design is modeled after the famous floor at Chartres Cathedral. In this unique token, the labyrinth is melded onto a piece of shell—a traditional and powerful symbol for pilgrimage.

The physical design of the token mirrors the reality of the spiritual path:

• The Shell: Historically worn by pilgrims, the shell represents the journey itself. The ridges in the shell signify the inevitable hills and valleys one must traverse during a quest.

• The Labyrinth: Unlike a maze, the labyrinth has no dead ends. It represents a purposeful path toward a center, offering a space for contemplation and the shedding of external distractions.

Designed to be carried in a pocket or held during meditation, this token provides a tactile point of focus. Tracing the path or feeling the ridges of the shell helps to ground the senses, making it a practical tool for mindfulness during daily transitions or as a symbolic companion for those currently walking their own “hills and valleys.”
