It’s that time of the year again, where I get the urge to clean up everything in sight, as Spring finally arrives in the northern United States.
Of course, it helps that this is a time of a lot of transitions for me. There are the obvious changes of the weather clearing up and beckoning us to open doors and windows after the stagnation and hibernation of the winter. However, this is also birthday time for Leland and I, with both of our birthdays a month apart, marking another year around the sun 🙂 The biggest change is of course starting to gear up for summer markets and sales and getting out to socialize among our customers and fellow vendors.
This year, there is the added transition, in that I have been working away from home for the last six months. In November, I began an assignment working in New Hampshire, as a traveling healthcare professional, leaving Leland, the pets, the house and the store all behind in Oregon. It was a good experience, the facility and staff here have been very good, and so has my host/landlord. However, it wasn’t home. I miss my family and my house/bed.
Overall, it’s been a time of changes and clarity. I think the updates here reflect the changes in our lives, and I look forward to the growth and renewal of getting out into the community once again. I am proud of the ways we have grown in the last year, but I am more sure than ever that, “There’s no place like home.”
